NEXUS 5 REVIEW
Google announced the launch of it's new OS Android 4.4 Kitkat yesterday and Google Nexus 5 is the first phone to run on Android 4.4. Google also introduced LTE in NEXUS 5 but it will not mean much to customers outside US and UK.The 16 GB version of affordable high END phone is cost $349 and 32 GB version costs $399. Nexus 5 deserves the brand name Nexus It's fast , powerful , feature rich, cheap and it shows the might of Google.
DESIGN
although it got bigger than Nexus 4 ( 4.9 inches ) the phone became slimmer and more compact than NEXUS 4. On the left edge there is volume rocker and 3.5 mm headphone jack and on the right side power button is placed along with a sim card slot. The micro USB slot is at the bottom edge. like the NEXUS 7 there is a LOGO of NEXUS on the back of the phone. The phone weighs 4.95 ounces and is available in black , white and mattle.
DISPLAY AND CAMERA
4.95 inches FULL HD display is made up of corning gorilla glass 3. the phone has 1920 X 1080 resolution. Although the display is dim we can't take that as a negative point. It is clear that they sacrificed display for cutting down price.
The rear camera is 8 MP with OIS (optical image stabilization ) even an shaky hand can take some neat pictures with it. The camera also offers features like HDR + , auto and manual focus, exposure metter, 4 scene modes, geotagging and 3.9 X digital zoom.OIS in this phone phone is good but not good as the one in LG G2.The 1080p videos also were satisfactory.
PERFOMANCE
Google nexus 5 sports a 2.26 GHZ SnapDragon 800 processor same as that of HTC ONE MAX and LG G2 and a 2 GB RAM . since the phone is running on Android 4.4 which requires 16 % less memory than jelly bean the phone will have great performance capabilities .It will just take about 25 seconds for the phone to shut down and restart and all the basic operations like camera , returning to home screen can be done with ease. The battery of the phone is 2300 Mah same as that of HTC ONE MAX but the GS4 has relatively strong 2600 Mah battery . NEXUS 5 has 17 hours talk time and 300 hours stand by battery life.
OS
The phone runs on Android 4.4 the latest OS from Google android platform. Android 4.4 comes with a major tweak of fixing Android fragmentation . The OS also provides features like
- better Google Now integration.
- MAPS ( allowing to receive messages from your car via Bluetooth ), IR blaster, support Chromecast.
- hangouts message integeration
- New phone dialler.
- immersive mode.
- Moving aroun homescreens.
The phone also hosts connectivity features like Bluetooth 4.0 , NFC and wireless charging.
VERDICT
Although the phone's Camera and 1080P is not up to the mark it is worth it besides we can't compare it with high end phones since it is only costing $350 of your money and others are around $ 650 and above.
